Does Smart Wake work offline?

Smart Wake needs an internet connection to play full-length music from Spotify or Apple Music.

If you lose internet at alarm time, the backup alarm will step in and play a short version of your selected song. So you'll always wake up on time, even without internet.

The Alarms tab works reliably without internet as long as you've previously set up your alarm while connected. For full Smart Wake music playback, make sure you have internet before going to sleep.
